Gocha Liparteliani, a 43-year-old economist turned winemaker from Bolnisi, made wine from red Asuretuli Shavi grapes that he cultivated in the village of Kianeti. Asuretuli Shavi grape was discovered growing wild in the woods around Asureti by German settlers in the early 19^th Century. It only comes from around this small village in southern Georgia.
